Untitled Congregation
This installation is part of a series in which I aim to reappropriate aspects of my local culture, and thereby my own origins, for aesthetic and conceptual ends. In this instance, i am hyperfocusing on a specific object of religious utility (the plastic sacrament cup used in LDS church services) and hyperbolizing it to the utmost extent. It is a response to culture, but largely originates in personal experience. In this sense the work simultaneously operates on the micro/macro scale: the discrete drip of a memory replicated and expanded as an anonymous field of sound and light.
